ZoeMovieReviews: Jingle All The Way

Jingle All the Way                     This is a 1996 American Christmas family comedy film and it stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sinbad, Phil Hartman, Rita Wilson, Jake Lloyd, James Belushi and Robert Conrad.   The Plot   A father promises to get his son a Turbo Man action figure for Christmas, however, every store is sold out of them, and he must travel all over town and compete with everybody else in order to find one.             Wow this is great. I am so surprised that I’d like it, purely because there aren’t that many good Christmas films out there.   The acting was good and Arnold Schwarzenegger was brilliant!! He fitted the role perfectly!!               It was very entertaining and funny at times. I thoroughly enjoyed it. This film makes me feel...

ZoeMovieReviews: Army Of Darkness

Army of Darkness                   This is a 1992 American horror comedy film directed by Sam Raimi. It is the third instalment of the Evil Dead franchise.   The Plot   A man is accidentally transported to 1300 A.D., where he must battle an army of the dead and retrieve the Necronomicon so he can return home.               Well this one was certainly different. I did like this one a lot! I liked that it was set in a different place.   The acting was really good!             At some points of this film I felt it was a little stupid, but fun at times. I did feel it lacked a little in more of the horror element. I just felt little too more action and silly rather than straight up horror. As I didn’t really know what I was going into, it did still became I reall...

ZoeMovieReviews: Evil Dead ll

Evil Dead II               This is a 1987 American horror comedy film directed by Sam Raimi and a parody sequel to the 1981 film The Evil Dead.   The Plot   The lone survivor of a blitz of flesh-possessing spirits holds up in a cabin with a group of strangers while the demons continue their attack.               Well this was bloody fun. I really enjoyed this one a lot. Unfortunately I do prefer this to the first ‘original’ evil dead film.   The acting is very good. The score suited the film nicely.   I do find that in this one there is a lot more ‘dark comedy’ side to the first one which I did prefer. A good example of this is in the scene where Ash and all the other objects in the room starting laughing; that was funny.                   ...

ZoeMovieReviews: The Evil Dead

The Evil Dead               This is a 1981 American horror film written and directed by Sam Raimi and executive produced by Raimi and Bruce Campbell, who also stars alongside Ellen Sandweiss and Betsy Baker.   The Plot Five friends travel to a cabin in the woods, where they unknowingly release flesh-possessing demons.             This film was great. It was a lot different to what I thought it would be like. I actually thought it be full on gore from start to finish, which it isn’t.   The acting in this film was very good. The score was as well; it suited the tone of the film.   It is definitely one of those fun 80s horror flicks for sure. The gore in this was very good, there wasn’t an extreme overdose amount of it, but wasn’t too little amount of it. That is good!!           The...

ZoeMovieReviews: Return of the Killer Tomatoes!

Return of the Killer Tomatoes! This is a 1988 horror comedy, was the first sequel to Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. It stars George Clooney. The Plot Crazy old Professor Gangreen has developed a way to make tomatoes look human for a second invasion.   Wow this is not what I expected. This is indeed very cheesy but a fun film. This is very enjoyable to watch, the acting was alright. The score was alright it definitely has that 80s vibe to it for sure. This was one of George Clooney’s earliest acting roles. The plot was very cheesy but fun. There are some over the top scenes at times. The opening scenes were very cheesy.   Overall, this is very enjoyable cheesy fun film. I recommend if you want to watch something very fun.  It puts you in a good mood as well. Rating: 6/10

ZoeMovieReviews: The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976)

The Town That Dreaded Sundown   This is a 1976 American horror film by producer and director Charles B. Pierce who also co-stars in it.     The Plot   A Texas Ranger hunts for a hooded serial killer terrorizing the residents of a small town, set in 1946 Arkansas. This is loosely based on a true story.   Well, this one was a lot different to the remake one for sure. I enjoyed this one a lot.   The acting and the score in this film is very good.   This film seemed to have a bit of a comedic side to it at times. There are some weird but funny scenes in this film which is a lot different to the remake.   The picture quality transfer to this film is pretty good.   I do slightly prefer the remake over this. The ending is a lot different to the remake. The ending was alright but not as good as the remake.   I don’t have any favourite scene...

ZoeMovieReviews: The Town That Dreaded Sundown (2014)

The Town That Dreaded Sundown   This is a 2014 American slasher horror film, a meta-sequel to the 1976 film of the same name. Directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon in his feature-length directorial debut. The film was written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa   and produced by Ryan Murphy and Jason Blum.   The Plot   65 years after a masked serial killer terrorized the small town of Texarkana, the so-called 'moonlight murders' begin again. Is it a copycat or something even more sinister? A lonely high school girl, with dark secrets of her own, may be the key to catching him.   Wow well this was a very good horror remake. I haven’t seen the original yet, but as a remake it is very good. As, nowadays there aren’t that many great horror remakes out there.   This film is very well directed. Some of the shots in this film are very good. I really liked that it linked in with the original film at times, which I thought was p...

ZoeMovieReviews: Grave Encounters

Grave Encounters   This is a 2011 Canadian supernatural horror film, shot found footage style.   The Plot   For their ghost hunting reality show, a production crew locks themselves inside an abandoned mental hospital that's supposedly haunted - and it might prove to be all too true.   Wow this probably one of the more decent and better found footage films I have seen in a long time.   I liked the whole idea that it was part of their ghost hunting reality show – thought that was cool.   At the start when the host was interviewing people, the part when he ask a man if he has seen any ghosts or anything like that and just gives him 20 bucks to pretend to say that he has. That was so funny!   The acting was really good in this.   I find that this film has a lot more interesting and creepy stuff than any of those paranormal activity films. This film, isn’t scary...

ZoeMovieReviews: Exam

Exam   This is a 2009 British psychological thriller film written by Simon Garrity and Stuart Hazeldine, directed by Hazeldine, and starring Colin Salmon, Chris Carey, Jimi Mistry, Luke Mably, Gemma Chan, Chuk Iwuji, John Lloyd Fillingham, Pollyanna McIntosh, Adar Beck and Nathalie Cox. The Plot The final candidates for a highly desirable corporate job are locked together in an exam room and given a test so simple and confusing that tension begins to unravel.   This film is very good. It is awesome. The opening scene for each candidate was a great way to introduce the film. The acting in this film was very good. The score suited the tone of the film. This is a film where you actually have to concentrate. It is mind bending.   Unfortunately I can’t describe any of the scenes to you as it might give spoilers and I don’t want to ruin the film. This is because you need to concentrate when you are wat...

ZoeMovieReviews: Nekromantik

Nekromantik This is a 1987 West German horror film directed by Jörg Buttgereit. It is known to be frequently controversial, banned in a number of countries, and has become a cult film over the years due to its transgressive subject matter (including necrophilia) and audacious imagery.   The Plot   A street sweeper who cleans up after grisly accidents brings home a full corpse for him and his wife to enjoy sexually, but is dismayed to see that his wife prefers the corpse over him.   Well this film was certainly unique and weird. I’m not too sure if I like this film or not; although it wasn’t as bad as what I thought it would be.   The score in this film was really good and I really like it. The acting was very good.   There are many weird and weird sexual scenes in this film, which didn’t bother me too much.   The scenes that bothered me the most is the rabbit and the cat. I am not going into details how they di...

ZoeMovieReviews: The Voices

The Voices   This is a 2014 psychological horror comedy film directed by Marjane Satrapi and written by Michael R. Perry. The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Gemma Arterton, Anna Kendrick, and Jacki Weaver.   The Plot   A likable guy pursues his office crush with the help of his evil talking pets, but things turn sinister when she stands him up for a date.   I loved this film so much. This is probably one of Ryan Reynolds best performances ever. He did amazingly in he’s role.   The music at the end was very cheesy and funny. The score was alright.   I really liked the fact that the dog and cat can talk to Jerry.   The acting was really good. I just loved it.   I have no favourite scenes because I just loved the whole movie, probably one of my new favourite Ryan Reynolds films. I liked how its quirky as well.   Overall, I just love this movie. Highly recomm...
