Macabre
This is a 1980 Italian horror film directed by Lamberto
Bava.
The Plot
A middle-aged woman, devastated from the death of her unlawful
lover, moves into a room at a New Orleans boarding house. The blind landlord
becomes suspicious to her activities of continuing her affair with her dead
lover.
This film is very weird for sure. I didn’t know much about
the film before I watched it which is good.
The acting in this film was good. The score was great and it
meant the film a bit more interesting for the parts of the film where nothing
much is going on.
There are a lot weird scenes in this film. The scene where
the mother’s daughter drowns her own brother that was very strange. The scenes
where the mother tries to make love with her lovers severed head. That is bizarre.
The scene where the girl gives her mother some soup and
there is an earlobe in it, that was quite clever.
The ending was great. I am glad the mother died she was extremely
weird. That was my favourite part.
The blood/gore is pretty good and realistic; there wasn’t many
scenes involving that.
Overall, the acting was great. The ending how Robert and the
mother died was very interesting. The film is alright I didn’t really know much
about the film beforehand, but it is great. I recommend this film if you like
Lamberto Bava films, weird horror and a lovely severed head in a fridge.
