Horns

This is a 2013 American dark fantasy comedy thriller film
directed by Alexandre Aja. It is loosely based on Joe Hill's novel of the same
name. Daniel Radcliffe and Juno Temple stars in this.
The Plot
A man is accused of raping and murdering his girlfriend and
uses his newly discovered paranormal abilities to uncover the real killer.
I liked this film a lot. I didn’t really know anything about
the film. That’s good thing. I thought it was enjoyable and a very interesting unique
film. It has some horror elements to this film although I wouldn’t classify it
as a straight up horror film by all means.
Throughout this film I thought Daniel Radcliffe did an
outstanding performance. You see him as the character that he is in this film,
not himself. He acted brilliantly and I think he would be great in more Horror
films. Juno Temple did a great performance as well. I thought the other
actors/actresses did as well, but Daniel Radcliffe did more of an outstanding
performance than the others.
There is a slow paced at the start of the film so be warned
it doesn’t just go really fast as it is a 2 hour film. It was great because it
makes it more interesting and gives time for the characters in this film to
adapt more. It is based on a novel, which is interesting.

There is some dark humour in this film that I liked. The scene
that I thought was funny is when Ig tells the reporters to beat the crap out of
each other before they could have an exclusive interview with him. That was
very funny indeed.
The soundtrack to this film I liked. The music wasn’t all
the same and most importantly it didn’t involve any ‘pop/chart’ music from
nowadays. I thought the soundtrack fitted nicely with the film. There was different
variety of music, which is always good.
This film looks visual wised brilliantly on Blu-ray. The scenery
looks absolutely beautiful. This film is a must to get on Blu-ray!!
There are some really great scenes in this film. The scene
when Ig goes back to the murder scene of he’s girlfriend that was pretty
intense. All the scenes when it shows Ig’s past with he’s brother and friends
was quite interesting. The scene when he was younger and he was with he’s
friends and they blew up a watermelon. I thought that was cool. The scene when
Ig first find’s out that he has horns. That was another cool scene.
The ending to this film was amazing. I will not say much
about it because I don’t want to spoil anything. All I will say is the scene
when Ig meets up with the person who killed he’s girlfriend and lots of very
gory things happen. That was pretty cool. Also, the bit when you see one of the
characters turn into the Devil (again), but this time looks even more badass. That
was great.
To be honest I think there are more sexual scenes and
swearing than the horror elements. That was the only slight drawback to it. Although;
I really liked this film a lot.
Overall, I found this film to be very intriguing and
enjoyable. Ig was a great character played by Daniel Radcliffe. The acting was
great and the soundtrack was as well. This isn’t a straight up horror film. I would
have liked to see more horror elements in this film, other than that it was
good. I would highly recommend you see this film!
