Hostel: Part II

This is a 2007 American horror film written and directed by Eli Roth, and the sequel to his 2005 horror film Hostel. The film is set in Slovakia and centres on a facility in which rich clients pay to torture and kill kidnapped victims.

The Plot

Three American college students studying abroad are allured to a Slovakian hostel, and discover the grim reality behind it.

I would just like to say I am not reviewing part 3 of Hostel as its bad. Anyways, I did like this film a lot. I find that I liked it more than part 1.

In this one I found the first half of the film to be much better and more interesting. Although this time around its college girls, they seem innocent normal girls but when they did get into the hostel and start getting tortured I didn’t care because there wasn’t any character build up for them.

There is a bit of music in this film. That did suit the tone to the film.

There are lot scenes in this which is great. When Paxton; has nightmares from being in hospital and one of guys from the Hostel place cuts him. I thought that was great. He gets decapitated and the cat starts licking Paxton’s blood.

The bit where one of the college girls who gets hung naked. That part was very weird, especially the woman who kills her is naked as well and she bathes in the dead college girl’s blood. For me, I just thought that was weird some guys might like that part, me no it’s just really weird…

I really liked the scene when the dogs ate one of the guys from the Hostel place. I thought the scene when Beth cuts off his penis and tosses them to the guard dogs, leaving him to bleed to death. I liked that scene because I didn’t like the guy who was trying to kill Beth. This makes Beth a member.

The scene when the man cuts part of the mans skin off and just eat the meat off it was pretty weird. That must be the slowest way to die in this film out of all the other ways people died in this!

The ending I liked as well. When Beth beheads Axelle and the Bubblegum Gang starts playing soccer with Axelle's severed head. I thought that was a great revenge!

The acting in this was actually good.

Overall, I preferred this to part one. This one is more interesting and the ending is a lot better. Beth was a great character in this film. There is that just weird scene that I didn’t hate, but I didn’t like it due to it was really weird. Other than that I liked this. I recommend you see this one as well as part one. Don’t watch part three it is unnecessary.
