ZoeMovieReviews: Frankenweenie

Frankenweenie This is a 2012 American 3D stop-motion-animated fantasy film directed by Tim Burton.   It is a remake of Burton's 1984 short film of Frankenweenie and it is a parody of homage to the 1931 film Frankenstein based on Mary Shelley's book Frankenweenie. This film is in black and white. It is also the fourth stop-motion film produced by Burton and the first of those four that is not a musical.   The Plot This is a heart-warming tale about a boy and his dog. After surprisingly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor seams the power of science to bring his best friend back to life with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation and when Sparky gets out, Victor's fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new "leash on life" can be monstrous.   Frankenweenie is such a great and very touching Disney film. I really liked it; well I like almost all the Disney films to be hones...

ZoeMovieReviews: Deranged The Confessions Of A Necrophile

Deranged: The Confessions of a Necrophile This is a Canadian-American horror film made in 1974. It was directed by Alan Ormsby and Jeff Gillen. It is also known by the title Deranged: The Confessions of a Necrophile in the USA. This is based on Ed Gein. The Plot It’s based on the serial killer Ed Gein. A deranged rural farmer becomes a grave robber and murderer after the death of his possessive mother whom he keeps her corpse, among others, as his companions in his decaying farmhouse.   This film I did like a lot. It was very tense at times. The actor whom re-acted what ‘Ed Gein’ did back in the 1950’s man he was so creepy. At one point when he was spooning out the brain of a corpse and putting into a mug I thought he’d eat it – thankfully he did not. That scene was very eerie indeed but great. I thought this film was bizarre, but the film was good. I thought it was so weird when all of the corpses were around the dinner table together; it was kind of coo...

ZoeMovieReviews: Day Of The Dead (1985)

Day of the Dead (1985) This is a 1985 American horror film written and directed by George A. Romero. It is the third film in Romero's Dead series. The first film in the series is Night of the Living Dead (1968) and Dawn of the Dead (1978) is the second film. The director describes the film as a "tragedy about how a lack of human communication causes chaos and collapse even in this small little pie slice of society". The Plot A small group of military officers and scientists inhabit in an underground bunker as the world above is overrun by zombies. Scientists conduct experiments to understand the virus that turned humans into flesh-hungry zombies.   I really liked this film a lot. I wasn’t too sure at first as I knew it’ll be gory but I actually didn’t mind the gore at all. I thought it would bother me, but it didn’t – yay! Let me just warn you guys if you don’t like gore and seeing the insides of a person then this isn’t the type of film for you....
