ZoeMovieReviews: The Raid

The Raid

This is a 2011 Indonesian martial arts action film. It's written and directed by Welsh filmmaker Gareth Evans and starring Iko Uwais. After its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, The Raid received positive reviews from critics.

The Plot
A rookie member of an elite team of commandos (Rama) is instructed to hang back while his other team members  go ahead with their mission to take down a brutal crime lord called Tama. However, Tama offers sanctuary to every criminal in his apartment block in exchange for the cops' heads.  Rama must now take command and lead his remaining team on violent charge through the building to complete and survive the mission.

The Raid is such an intense but fun gory action film. I really liked it. I haven't seen a really good martial arts film since the Karate Kid. This film is a mixture of gory, action and martial arts all in one. That's a great combination!! Especially in an awesome film like this.

The opening scene to this was great. The guy training and getting ready for the mission. From that scene and onwards this film gets even better.

Throughout the film there were a lot of fighting scenes in it. The fighting was really good- the scene where Rama and he's brother both fight Mad Dog at the same time was awesome. I really enjoyed that part.

I liked in some of the scenes that they used really cool knifes and guns. That was really cool.

I really liked the character Rama. I liked the fact that he wouldn't leave the big block apartment until he found all the other alive elite SWAT team members. He is very heroic as well. Also, when he helped save he's brother and then they both fight Mad Dog.

The actors in the film played brilliantly. When the action and the more glorified scenes were on it felt realistic. This is due to the fact of the acting was brilliant and the director was as well.
The soundtrack to the film fit perfectly.

Overall, I really enjoyed this film a lot. I really liked all the gory scenes and the martial art scenes the best. The acting was brilliant. This is such a great Indonesian film. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves/likes action films or films that have quite a bit of gore in them. Yes, this film isn't in English but there is subtitles- so you will still understand the film. Everyone should go and watch this!!

Rating: 9.5/10

Although, the first few scenes of the film is that it’s reminding you some of things that happened in the first film. That I liked, as it gave me an idea of what happened from the first film as I only watc...

It is based on the Danish fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. The score is very good as well. My favourite song from it was Under The Sea!   The story telling to this film is great! I liked how in some scenes the characters show actual emotion when they are sad or happy. I liked the characters apart from Ursula of course. My favourite character is Sebastian who is the red crab not lobster!   I do have a few favourite scenes from this film. The scenes whe...
