This is a Canadian-American horror film made in 1974. It was directed by Alan Ormsby and Jeff Gillen. It is also known by the title Deranged: The Confessions of a Necrophile in the USA. This is based on Ed Gein.

The Plot

It’s based on the serial killer Ed Gein. A deranged rural farmer becomes a grave robber and murderer after the death of his possessive mother whom he keeps her corpse, among others, as his companions in his decaying farmhouse.

This film I did like a lot. It was very tense at times. The actor whom re-acted what ‘Ed Gein’ did back in the 1950’s man he was so creepy.

At one point when he was spooning out the brain of a corpse and putting into a mug I thought he’d eat it – thankfully he did not. That scene was very eerie indeed but great.

I thought this film was bizarre, but the film was good. I thought it was so weird when all of the corpses were around the dinner table together; it was kind of cool – just weird as well.

I found that the main character was really creepy and he’d kill only women in this film. He’s mother was a bit creepy when she was talking to him.

I thought the way he’d kill the different people in this film was very interesting. The one kill where he hanged a tied naked women and cuts part of her – so she bleeds to death. That was a bit shocking, but was pretty awesome scene.

I also found that it was weird how he’d talk to the dead corpses …

There were some other great scenes in this film. The acting throughout the film was really good. The score suited the film great. It lets you know when the tense moments are happening. The score definitely suited the atmosphere.

This is a great underrated horror film. It’s very interesting and indeed so creepy!  The gore was great – it wasn’t too much are too little.

Overall, I did enjoy and like this film a lot. Yes, it is bizarre and creepy which didn’t bother me too much. It was very interesting to see the case of Ed Gien and what he did. The acting was great, the score was awesome. If you like seeing dead corpses, horror and bit of gore you’ll enjoy this one. I would recommend this, it’s worth a watch. It’s also from arrow video.

Rating: 8.5/10

I liked how in some scenes the characters show actual emotion when they are sad or happy. I liked the characters apart from Ursula of course. My favourite character is Sebastian who is the red crab not lobster!   I do have a few favourite scenes from this film. The scenes whe...
