Frankenweenie

This is a 2012 American 3D stop-motion-animated fantasy film directed by Tim Burton. It is a remake of Burton's 1984 short film of Frankenweenie and it is a parody of homage to the 1931 film Frankenstein based on Mary Shelley's book Frankenweenie. This film is in black and white. It is also the fourth stop-motion film produced by Burton and the first of those four that is not a musical.
The Plot
This is a heart-warming tale about a boy and his dog. After surprisingly
losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor seams the power of science to bring
his best friend back to life with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to
hide his home-sewn creation and when Sparky gets out, Victor's fellow students,
teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new "leash on
life" can be monstrous.

Frankenweenie is such a great and very touching Disney film.
I really liked it; well I like almost all the Disney films to be honest with
you. This one is so much more different then all the Disney films – it’s a lot darker
than all the other ones.
I liked that throughout this film the theme of it stayed the
same. This meaning that all the characters looked similar, atmosphere of the
film is the same throughout – very dark toned. I liked that it was in black and
white, but still very good.
I really liked ‘sparky’ the dog in this film he was my
favourite character in the film. That was a bit annoying because ‘sparky’ dies
a few times in this film. Literally every time he died I actually cried a bit –
I never usually cry at a film but this one I did. He is such a sweet and
likeable dog.
I liked in this film that all the characters had a bit of
some sort of creepy element to them. It suited the film well. I also liked the
fact in this film there were characters you cared about and characters you didn’t
care about – as they weren’t all that nice.

In this film there were some very touching scenes. This film
may make you cry if you love dogs or any type of animal/pet. For example: when ‘sparky’
dies and young Victor cries because of it. When the poodle next door was sad
because ‘sparky’ was gone and she’d miss playing ball under fence with him.
The score to this film was alright. The end credits score
not so much. The plot of this film was a great idea but needed to elaborate on
it a bit more. Some of the characters were a bit annoying but they didn’t bother
me too much.
Overall, I really enjoyed this film. I think it’s more of a ‘unique’
Disney film and could be slightly underrated. This film isn’t for everyone if
they can’t cope with a dog dying in a film. I would recommend this to older
teenagers and above as there are some scenes younger children might not like. This
is for anyone who is a big fan of Disney and likes Tim Burton’s films. This is
a film worth checking out!!
