Identity

This is a 2003 American mystery
thriller film directed by James Mangold from a screenplay written by Michael
Cooney. The film stars John Cusack, Ray Liotta, Amanda Peet, Alfred Molina,
Clea DuVall and Rebecca De Mornay.
The Plot
Stranded at a desolate Nevada
motel during a nasty rain-storm, ten strangers become acquainted with each
other when they realize that they're being killed off one by one.

Well, this film was alright. Hmm,
it was pretty interesting and very confusing at the same time. I did like the
concept of what the film is supposed to be about.
I thought this film had potential
throughout until it got to the last act of the film. That bit really did
confuse me a lot. I am not going to spoil that bit, but the actual ‘person’ who
did all those killings when the ‘strangers’ were in the motel that didn’t
really make sense. I didn’t think I would suspect it would be that ‘person’
who killed these innocent people.
There were some great scenes in
it. When John Cusack’s character went to
the laundry and opened one of the washing machine doors and a women’s bloody
gory head was there - I thought that was cool. I also thought when every time a
person got killed there was a key lock with a number on. That was very strange,
but cool concept.

The acting was great in this. I
thought each actor / actress played their roles well. There was a little boy in
this film who I thought I wouldn’t like because most of the time when there are
young child actors/actresses they can be annoying. This little boy actor didn’t
– which is a good thing.
The score to this film suited it
perfectly. There was music even when in the scenes it rained a lot but the
music went along side it. It didn’t go overboard so that you couldn’t hear the
rain. The ‘rain’ is possibly one the main important bits to this film.
The main problem with this film is
just the ending. It really didn’t do it for me at all. It just made the concept
even more confusing. I get that all these people were born on the same day and
had different personalities. I just didn’t
get the fact that it was all in someone’s mind, creating these people. I shan’t
say anymore as if anyone wanted to see it at least I wouldn’t spoil it for
them.
Overall, I thought it was really
good until the last act of the film. The acting was really good. The score was
great. This is a film that you can still watch and enjoy but when it’s the last
act it doesn’t go downhill, it just gets confusing. It may appeal to some
people, I thought it would to me but the ending ruined it. It is worth checking
out, but not one that I would immediately think and would recommend.
