Night of
the Living Dead (1968)
This is a 1968 American independent zombie horror film
directed by George A. Romero, starring Duane Jones, Judith O'Dea and Karl
Hardman. It has been a cult classic ever since 1968.
Plot
A group of people takes refuge in an abandoned house when
corpses begin to leave the graveyard in search of fresh human bodies to devour.
One by one, the living humans become the
prey of the deceased ones.
This film was fun to watch. It is in black and white, which
is cool. I did like this film, but I do prefer Day of the Dead a lot more than
this one.
I thought the scene when Johnny and Barbara are in the
graveyard and Johnny says “They’re coming to get you, Barbra" was funny. Then
she is attacked by a strange man.

In this film there aren’t that many memorable scenes. A few
scenes that I thought were great was when the little girl eats her dad and
kills her mom. Another great scene is when the zombie smashes into Barbra’s
car. The scene when Tom and Judy get in the car and
Tom sets fire to the truck by accidently spilling gasoline on it and the truck
gets exploded. I thought that was cool and then the zombies eat their flesh!!
That part of the scene is similar to day of the dead – that’s why that scene
was my favourite.
I thought the acting was really good in this film. The actress
who played Barbra I thought she did a great performance in the film. The other
actors and actresses performance was great as well. The zombies were great in
this film, especially at the time it was made.
The score to this film was great. It set the tone to the
film very well. I really enjoyed the score; it made some parts of the film a
bit more eerie.
Overall, I liked this film a lot. There are some few
memorable scenes in this. The acting was great and so was the score to this. I still
prefer Day of the dead. I would recommend this if you like zombie and horror
films. If you are new to George A Romero’s work you should watch this.
